  • Bodegas San Valero presented a new collection of mono-varietal wines “Celebrities” at Barcelona Wine Week. The collection is dedicated to the most representative grape varieties of the Carinena DOP appellation, as well as the most famous in the world: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Garnacha and Carignano. Thanks to their bright, glamorous labels, the wines have become real “celebrities” at the exhibition. Bodegas San Valero CEO Ignacio Pastor, in his presentation, stressed that this project, associated with new consumer trends, is designed to attract young people to the art of winemaking. The new line of Celebrity wines embodies the company’s commitment to innovation, quality and sophistication. This is a prime example of a winery renovation, in which new concepts are born that allow you to look confidently into the future and strive for excellence, creating versatile wines with a strong personality.

“Celebrities” Merlot is an elegant and provocatively daring red dry wine made from selected Merlot grapes, which were harvested from the best vineyards in the Cariena appellation. The region is located in the Ebro Valley on one of its vast plains with very rocky soils. Most of the vineyards are located at a relatively high altitude, between 400 and 800 meters above sea level. The climate here is continental, with sharp seasonal and daily temperature fluctuations, which helps to give the characteristic intensity and bright acidity to the local grape varieties. After harvesting, which is carried out at the time of optimal ripeness of the berries, the grapes are macerated and fermented using natural yeast in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 27-29 C. Alcoholic fermentation lasts 15-20 days and is accompanied by daily wort pumping. Then the wine is poured into other containers for malolactic fermentation, after which it matures in American oak barrels for 1-2 months.
