  • In 1979, Torres acquired a small winery in Curico, in the Chilean Central Valley, and became the first foreign company to produce wines from Chilean grapes grown in a unique place at the foot of the Andes volcanoes. The Curicho winery is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that allows winemakers to carefully control the entire process. The company Torres was the first winery in Chile, which began using fermented steel tanks with controlled temperature, and aging in high-quality French oak barrels.

“Santa Digna” – a line of monosortovyh wines created from the most famous grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Blanc. These wines are focused on high quality and display of classic varietal characteristics. “Santa Digna” were called crosses on the border of lands, which served to demarcate territories and symbolized the luck and protection of those who traveled to other areas.

“Santa Digna” Reserva, Cabernet Sauvignon – an expressive representative of Chilean wines. The grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the business cards of the Central Valley. For wine production, optimally ripened berries are harvested from the end of March to the beginning of May. Immediately after harvest, they arrive at the winery’s capacity, where they are pressed and seven-day fermented at a temperature of + 25-28 C. After three weeks of ripening, the future wine is placed in oak barrels, where it is aged for about six months. Thus obtained wine “Santa Digna” Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon conquers characteristic varietal flavor and aromatic nuances, velvety tannins and a long aftertaste.

Torres was founded by Jaime and Miguel Torres in 1870. The Iberian Peninsula, where the main vineyards of the family are located, is known for the diversity of soil and microclimate, ideal for viticulture. From generation to generation in the family passed the secret of making wines and love of the land. This tradition, innovation and vision of the future has turned Torres into a well-known company whose products can now be found in more than 140 countries around the world. Today, Torres owns more than 1,300 hectares of vineyards, not only in Spain, but also on other continents. One of the main priorities of the Torres family is to preserve the culture of viticulture for future generations. Therefore, Torres pays great attention to environmental problems and their solution – purifies wastewater, actively participates in the conservation and replanting of regional forests, as well as in preserving the Bonelli eagle in Spain and the Andean condor in Chile, and invests in research on renewable energy sources (solar panels and wind). parks), hybrid cars, exploring the exploitation of vineyards and forest biomass.

In January 2007, the Wine Enthusiast called Torres “the best winery in Europe 2006” for its innovation, commitment to research, for its importance in the world of wines and spirits.
