Description
“Tenuta Belguardo” – fine wine with a strong and vivid character, which is the maximum expression of the exceptional “terroir” Marremy. Blend wine consists of Cabernet Sauvignon with a little Cabernet Franc grown on sandy soils at an altitude of 70-130 meters above sea level. The average age of the vines is 10 years, planting density – 6600 vines per hectare. Harvested by hand: from September 1, removed Cabernet Sauvignon, from September 7 – Cabernet Franc. Fermentation took place at a temperature of 28-30 C, then followed by 16 days of maceration. Extract of wine for 18 months was performed in small French barrels volume of 225 liters, of which 70% – new. After bottling in August 2009, the wine matures in the cellars of the winery for another 20 months. In 2007 it was produced 16,000 bottles of wine “Tenuta Belguardo.” Wine storage capacity – more than 20 years.
Winery “Tenuta Belguardo” was purchased in 1990 awnings Mazzei, who also belongs to the well-known possession “Fonterutoli” in Tuscany “Zisola” in Sicily. Awnings Mazzei played an important role in the history of Tuscan wine: thanks to them in 1398 came the name of the wine “Chianti”. Farm “Tenuta Belguardo” is located in the region between the hills of Maremma Grosseto Monthian and 10 kilometers from the coast. Sub-Region Maremma is not as well known as Montalcino and Chianti, but has great potential.
