Wine “Sutherland” Cabernet Sauvignon, 2019

Description

The vineyard “Sutherland” is located about 70 km southeast of Cape Town in the Overberg region. It is unique with its location on a high plateau surrounded by mountains. This area is famous for its apple orchards, and now it is gaining recognition with its fragrant white wines. The proximity to the sea with its cool breezes allows the grapes to ripen more slowly than in other regions of Cape Town.

“Sutherland” Cabernet Sauvignon, 2013 offers a real berry blast in its fragrance. A hot, dry vegetative period led to early harvesting. The grapes were sorted by hand and crushed. The mixture was pumped into stainless steel tanks, where fermentation was carried out for 7 days. After pressing, the wine was placed in barrels for apple-milk fermentation. Exposure lasted 18 months, 25% of new barrels were used. The period of the best maturity of the vintage in 2013 is 2017-2022. Vintage 2013 was awarded the gold medal “The TEXSOM International Wine Awards” in 2017.
