  • Schubert Pinot Noir Wairarapa, 2011 – very elegant, smooth wine with a hypnotic and mesmerizing aroma flavor, created a popular winery in New Zealand, “Schubert”. With an excellent structure, excellent harmony and balance, the wine has a good potential for development. After 5-12 years of storage it will be a boon to true connoisseurs of drinks. Despite the fact that the birthplace of Pinot Noir is considered French Bourgogne region, it is grown all over the world: in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, the United States and countries of the New World. However, the most outstanding successes achieved winemakers from New Zealand, California and Oregon. Winery “Schubert” says Pinot Noir most important variety, and this was the reason for the choice of the village of Martinborough in the Wairarapa region in New Zealand for the purchase of land under vines as the best terroir for Pinot Noir. In 2001, the first crop was harvested, and in early 2003 – produced the first wine. If Marions Vineyard grown mainly two clones of Pinot Noir – Pommard and Abel, from which is born “Pinot Noir Marion’s Vineyard” , then the wine “Pinot Noir Wairarapa” is made from a clone called “Dijon”. Wine gives a very complex with amazing berry-spicy aroma with a touch of smoky notes of, and the taste is different layered and perfectly balanced fruity character.

Wairarapa wine region located in the most southern part of the North Island of New Zealand. Rivers that pass through this area, contribute to the deposition of alluvial and limestone in the soil, which gives the grapes grown here individuality and character. Ancient river terraces are covered with silt loam 20-50 cm sediment. Ridges Rimutaka and Tararua possible to protect the vines from the strong north-westerly winds, especially frequent during spring and summer. Over time, the vineyards have adapted to the natural cool conditions and lower yields in intensity produce excellent wines. This region has been gaining popularity and recognition for a wide variety of high quality wines and Pinot Noir has been recognized by the “king of the vineyards.” The harvest in 2011 began three weeks later, April 14-20, as spring was cold than usual. Nevertheless, the sun during the month provided the ideal conditions of maturation. Yields are exclusively manually, then carefully withdrawn. After desteblirovaniya berries are cold maceration, fermentation in stainless steel vats, whereupon the wort is kept on the skin for 3 weeks. Growing wine took place in French oak barrels, of which 60% – the new, for 16 months. Date of filling this vintage: December 11, 2012.

Winery “Schubert” was established in 1998 by two graduates of the German University of Viticulture and Oenology in Gessenhayme – Kai Schubert and Marion Deymlingom. They got a lot of experience, having worked at Ernie Luzena on “Dr. Loosen Estate” in Germany as well as in other vineyards in different countries, but their dream has always been to create its own winery. They carefully chose the place for its future winery in regions such as Oregon, California, Australia, in some parts of Europe, but really they drew Wairarapa region in the southern part of New Zealand. After studying about 100 plots of land in New Zealand, two young men picked up in the Wairarapa, which, in their view, ideal for their favorite Pinot Noir and its clones. Both sites were acquired in 1998. Vines in the vineyards “Schubert” planted in the European style – tight enough. A distinctive feature of the production is very limited amounts of grapes and therefore wine at its very high quality. Wine “Schubert” repeatedly awarded various prizes. Best known wine “Schubert Pinot Noir” and “Schubert Cabernet Sauvignon”, the last of which was twice recognized as the best New Zealand Cabernet. All wines are distinguished Schubert fruity style and balanced.
