Description
The “Basiani” line of wines was created to honor the greatness and power of the army of the Kingdom of Georgia, namely in memory of its great victory over a vast enemy in the 13th century. In the battle of Basiani, the army was commanded by the husband of Queen Tamara, David Soslan. The symbol of victory was a coin issued in the same century with the initials of both spouses, the image of which adorns the label of Basiani wines.
“Basiani” Saperavi – dry red wine, for the production of which the Saperavi grapes are used. In the Kakheti region, the Saperavi grape has the best varietal expression, therefore it is widely cultivated by local winemakers. The dry and hot climate of the region creates ideal conditions for growing grapes. The region’s soils are famous for their rich diversity. Thanks to all these extremely favorable conditions, in combination with the traditional Kakhetian way of winemaking, the company managed to create a wine with an expressive varietal aroma and a pleasant, moderately tart taste. “Basiani” Saperavi will perfectly complement the taste of various meat dishes, especially grilled and mature cheeses.
