Wine Podere le Ripi, “Cappuccetto Rosa” Toscana Rosato IGT, 2022

“Cappuccitto Rosa” Toscana Rosato IGT, 2022 is a sophisticated wine that the producer himself calls “not really a pink”. Rather, it is a red wine with short contact with the skins, in which the early harvested Sangiovese grapes enhance their energy and flavor. Podere le Ripi calls it “naked Sangiovese”. The creative label also emphasizes the character of the wine. A flying whale represents Sangiovese: a generous grape, rich in Mediterranean aromas and sun, which at its best can surprise us with unexpected lightness, like a huge flying whale in the sky.

The harvest was hand-picked in the last week of August. Sangiovese is collected from all the vineyards and directly pressed specifically for the production of this ros wine. The grapes entering the cellar are pressed, de-stemmed and left overnight for maceration. The juice is separated from the skins the following day. The wine is aged for 10-12 months in stainless steel tanks. The number of bottles produced for the 2022 vintage was 6,600.
