Wine Kanonkop, “Kadette” Pinotage, 2018

Description

Dry red wine “Kadette” Pinotage is made from Pinotage grapes grown in Stollenbosh. Age of vines is from 5 to 30 years, the yield does not exceed 7 tons per hectare. The soils are made up of decomposed granite with the inclusion of clay. Viticultural season 2014 was marked by cold, wet winters, abundant spring rains, dry and warm summers and slow, steady ripening berries. When vinification Pinotage undergoes alcoholic fermentation on the skins in open fermenters at a temperature of 28 C with daily manual breaks pulp caps every two hours. On the fourth day of fermentation the wine must be removed from the sediment. Matured wine for 14 months in French oak barrels of second and third use. wine storage potential is 6-8 years.

Kanonkop Estate is located on the western hills of Simonsberg in Stellenbosch region. Today the winery owns a couple Joanne and Paul Krieg. Kanonkop is famous for its red wines. In the vineyards farms cultivated varieties such as Pinotage, which is 50% of all landings, Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Merlot (7.5%) and Cabernet Franc. The main objective of the winery Kanonkop is that the good work done in the vineyards, continued in the wine cellar. Experts call Kanonkop South African equivalent of the Premier Cru or First Growth. Kanonkop wines were marked by countless top awards and gold medals in both national and international exhibitions and competitions.
