Description
Jakob’s Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2018 is a very rich, concentrated wine, which Tim Atkin in his report on South African wines called a very impressive release. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for the wine are grown in a single 1ha vineyard in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley. It is planted at 350 meters above sea level on shale-clay soils with inclusions of red granite, 5 km from the coast of Walker Bay. The grapes are hand-picked. Temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts lasts 4 weeks. Then, after a light pressing, the wine is pumped into 225-liter oak barriques (30% new) and aged for at least 24 months.
