Description
Isole e Olena, Chianti Classico, 2021 is an expressive and balanced wine with a deep, seductive aroma and a persistent, harmonious taste. The blend consists of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Syrah grapes grown on the southwestern slopes of the Chianti Classico hills, at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level.
The grapes are hand-picked at the optimum stage of ripeness and fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats under strict temperature control. To maximise the colour and soft tannins, delestage is performed twice a day pouring the wine from the fermentation vat into an empty one below, with the must then being returned from above. Maceration lasts around 15 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in large 4,000-litre oak barrels for a year and then in bottles for another 6 months, which gives the drink additional roundness and complexity.
The magnum format (1.5 l) not only looks impressive on the table, but also preserves wine better due to slow oxidation: in such bottles, wine develops longer and more harmoniously. This makes the magnum format an ideal choice for both festive feasts and for collection storage with aging potential of up to 10 years. Decanting is recommended before serving.
