  • Chianti Classico – the traditional Tuscan wine that Paolo De Marchi creates exclusively from red grapes. Vintage 2009 – a blend of Sangiovese, Syrah and Canaiolo. Grapes are grown in the heart of Chianti, between Florence and Siena, in the south-western slopes of the hills at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. In the fermentation process twice a day spend delestazh (overflow with wine fermentation tank to empty, located below, followed by a return of the wort to the fermentation tank through the top) – a method of extraction in the fermentation process, which allows you to get a wine with a rich color and soft tannins . Followed by maceration lasting 15 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in large oak casks volume 4000 liters during the year and 3-4 months in the bottle. The wine will be at the peak of maturity within 5-8 years after graduation.
Chianti Classico 2009 – wine with aromatic notes of cherry, violets and delicate nuances of sweet spices and juicy fruit flavors with hints of multifaceted and excellent balance.

Winery “Isole e Olena” appeared in 1950, when two neighboring estates Isola and Olena were bought and merged aristocratic family De Marchi. The history of both estates has hundreds of years. The earliest written reference to the village of Isola found in the XII century, when viticulture infancy in this region. After buying the names of the owners were broken new vineyards and cellars expanded. Manor “Isole e Olena” is located in the western part of the Chianti Classico region, north of the village of Castellina. 49 hectares of vineyards spread at an altitude of 350-450 meters above sea level, mainly on rocky and clay-calcareous soils. Near the vineyards grow old olive trees of the crop from which the magnificent olive oil “Isole e Olena”. Since 1976, the estate managed by Paolo De Marchi – experienced in the fourth generation winemaker who knows all the tricks and processes. Paolo received his degree at the University of Turin enologist, within six months on probation in California, studying the development of wine culture there. In the early 1980s worked in the Experimental Institute of Enology of Asti in Piedmont. De Marchi set a goal – to bring the winery “Isole e Olena” at a high level and take a leading position in the wine region of Chianti. Under the leadership of Paolo were upgraded cellars, vineyards planted with new sites constantly being experiments on the selection of varieties and clones, each site suitable terroir.

Paolo – a leading expert on Sangiovese, many years studying its characteristics, currently advises colleagues around the world and cooperates with the faculties of oenology universities in Italy, Germany, France and California. Paolo constantly traveling the world and monitors new technologies and approaches. Gradually reducing the percentage of white grapes in the composition of Chianti Classico wines, Paolo managed to get a full-bodied wine with good potential storage instead of traditional light, young and sour Chianti. During experiments with Sangiovese in 1980 was created the famous wine Supertuscan “Cepparello”, noted critics of the high points. The winery also produced monosepazhnye wines from international grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay), combined in a series of “Collezione De Marchi”. “Isole e Olena” produces one of the best sweet dessert wine “Vin Santo”, using a rather complicated traditional technology .
In 2003, the farm was built a new winery, perfect in technical and architectural terms. Currently, Paolo De Marchi with his eldest son Luca is another farm and produces wines in the old family estate “Proprieta Sperino” in Piedmont.
