Description
“Ernest” Pinot Noir is an elegant, dense and well-structured wine named after the first son of the winery’s owners and a true reflection of the depth and richness of the Aarde Valley. The Pinot Noir grapes for the wine are grown in the cool climate of the highly prized coastal region of Huppert Hemel-en-Aarde, on north-facing slopes at an altitude of 180 meters above sea level, 5 km from the southern Atlantic coast. Part of the must undergoes spontaneous fermentation using local yeast strains. Long maceration on the skins and malolactic fermentation also take place. The wine is aged in 228-liter French oak barrels (20% new) for 11 months.
