Yarden is the Jewish name of the Jordan River, in the valley of which the vineyards of Golan Heights are located. The labels of the wines of this series depict an ancient Jewish symbol – an oil lamp decorated with mosaic.

“Yarden” Pinot Gris is an elegant and light wine, with flavorful juicy Asian fruit flavored. It is created from the grown up north of the Golan Heights Pinot Gris. This variety was previously grown exclusively in French Alsace and in the north-east of Italy. Now it is cultivated in the arid climate of Israel, giving material for the “Yarden” Pinot Gris. This wine has universal compatibility, especially it is recommended to serve with sushi, fried seabass, baked with lemon and rosemary chicken, as well as pasta with a creamy-spicy sauce.

Golan Heights is a company that has revived the winemaking of Israel. Until the 1980s, there were no farms in the country that could create world-class products, although Palestine is famous for its millennial traditions of wine production. The company Golan Heights was established in 1983 on the territory of the Golan Heights in the north of Israel. The quality of the company’s products complies with Kashrut’s rules (the rules of Judaism). To comply with kosher, the wine and grapes from which it was produced, as well as the production process is controlled by a specially trained rabbi. The terraces of the Golan Heights are very similar to the microclimate and soils on the terrair of the Napa Valley in California. Therefore, California technology played a big role in the development of the winery Golan Heights. From California, experts were invited who conducted detailed studies of basaltic soils of the Golan Heights and concluded that the prospects of winemaking in the area are promising. Young winemakers who were educated at the University of California at Davis and who had practical experience working in modern wineries in the world were hired.

Having chosen a clear goal, the founders of the Golan Heights created world-class wines by revolutionizing the winemaking of Israel and achieved international recognition. After thirty years of work, Golan Heights remains synonymous with quality Israeli wine and continues to promote the country’s winemaking. The company produces not only traditional quiet wines, but also began to produce no earlier analogues in Israel wines from the late harvest and sparkling wines by the traditional method of “champenoise.”

The Golan Heights vineyards are located in the Galilee region of northern Israel at an altitude of 400 to 1,200 meters above sea level and stretch from the Sea of Galilee to the foot of Mount Hermon. The best imported vines Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer are planted in the vineyards. Volcanic basalt soils have good drainage. The grapes growing here require more time to ripen, as the climate of the region is rather cool. The winery building is located in the town of Katzrin, it is equipped with modern presses, stainless steel vats, a chamber for cooling wort and other modernized equipment. In production, various vinification technologies are used, aging is carried out in barrels of American and French oak. The company produces three permanent series: “Gamla”, “Yarden” and “Golan”. In the best years, in addition to them, the wines of the “Katzrin” line, related to the super-premium class, are produced.
