Description
“Lady May” is a luxurious red wine, the flagship wine of the Glenelli estate, made from a single vineyard planted on the cool eastern slopes. Elegant, sophisticated and venerable, just like its owner, May de Lenquesen, a French winemaker who has been the owner and managing director of the iconic Chteau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande winery for over 30 years. Through this wine, the estate pays tribute to the ancestry of its legendary owner.
The wine is made from Bordeaux grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot) grown in Simonsberg. The 2018 harvest produced some outstanding wines from the Glenelli Estate. The hand-picked grapes were lightly crushed. Fermentation with natural yeasts took place in stainless steel tanks. Post-maceration with grape skins lasted about 3 weeks. The wine was then aged in French oak barrels for a total of 24 months. For the first 12 months, the wines of each variety were matured separately, then a blend was made, which was aged for another 12 months. The wine has excellent storage potential – 10 years.
