“Camarcanda” – the main wine estates Ca ‘Markandeya owned by the famous Italian winemaker Angelo Gaja. And in 1996, after lengthy negotiations, Angelo Gaja was the happy owner of the estate, which is so called – Ca ‘Marcanda.
Vineyards economy Ca ‘Markandeya are located in Castagneto Carducci in Bolgheri. The grapes for wine making “Kamarkanda” grown in rocky, limestone soil called “terre bianche” (“White Land”), ideal for long-lived wines. After the harvest of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, fermented berries each class separately. Blending made after malolactic fermentation, the wine is then bottled in oak barriques, where stand 18 months. Further aging occurs in the bottle for 6 months.

Brand Gaja was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaia, the great-grandfather of the current owner Angelo Gaja, and for 5 generations, is owned by the family Gaia. To date, Gaja Winery owns vineyards with a total area of 250 hectares, located in the province of Tuscany and Piedmont.
