  • Riesling wines from the region Frankland River are renowned for their intense varietal flavor and clear crisp acidity. These features are demonstrated and “Isolation Ridge Vineyard” Riesling, recognized as one of the best in Australia and received wide critical acclaim. In the production of “Izoleyshn Ridge Vineyard” Riesling main purpose is to minimize interference in the process of wine-making in order to obtain the most pure and complete expression of the terroir. Harvested berries pressed, the juice is kept in tanks for one night, after which fermentation is performed in tanks of steel and partly in oak barriques at least 12 C for 12 weeks.

    Vineyard “Izoleyshn Ridge” is located on the undulating northern and eastern slopes on the unique soils composed of iron ore, gravel and loam over clay subsoil. Here there are two clones of Riesling – Geisenheim and Rhine Riesling, planted in 1988. The vineyard used organic methods of farming, which according to the company “Frankland Estate”, a beneficial effect on the aroma of grapes. Slow ripening period, typical for the region Frankland, maximizes enrich the taste, while maintaining the distinctive colorful acidity.

    Winery “Frankland Estate” was created in 1988 by Barry Smith and Judy Cullum. Since 1974, family owned farm successfully developing sheep breeding. But after a trip to the Bordeaux region and get a two-year work experience in the vineyards at Chateau Senezhak, the family decided to expand the boundaries of the family business and engage in winemaking. In one part of their farm was divided vineyard “Izoleyshn Ridge”, the area of which is gradually increased to 30 hectares. Approach to winemaking is based on the principle that the most important characteristics of the blame attached to the terroir, the vine and the environment. “Frankland Estate” aims to make wines that reflect the nature, rather than skill winemaker. This philosophy is the foundation of commitment to sustainable agriculture and the cultivation of the land in accordance with the cycles of nature. Soil health management in vineyards is carefully controlled and guarded. Natural fertilizer made from waste wineries and insect activity regulates flock of guinea fowl living in the vineyards. In 2009, the vineyards “Frankland Estate” received an official organic certification ACO (Australian Certified Organics).
