Description
“Majano” Tempranillo – dry red wine with a protected designation of origin. Tempranillo grapes for this wine are grown in La Mancha. The name “La Mancha” in Arabic means “dry”, which perfectly characterizes the sultry climatic conditions of the region. La Mancha is the main producer of quality and inexpensive Spanish wines, more than half of all Spanish grapes are cultivated here. Preference is given to unpretentious varieties such as Tempranillo. After harvesting, which is carried out at the moment of optimal ripeness of the berries, the grapes are subjected to traditional vinification at a controlled temperature. The wine goes well with various meat dishes, pasta and cheeses. Good value for money is an important advantage of the wines of the Mayano line.
Bodegas Fernando Castro was founded in 1850 when Marcos Castro Torres opened a small viticulture business. His son Juan Manuel, with the support of his eight children, was able to give a good commercial boost to the company. So Castro wines began to be sold in the markets of Andalusia and Madrid. Then it presented some difficulty – for 15-20 days the wine was transported on carts pulled by mules. But the Castro family was able to lead the company to prosperity, despite all the vicissitudes of fate that they had to endure during the Spanish Civil War.
Today, Fernando Castro is the most famous family winery in southern Spain. Castro wines are supplied to 46 European countries, as well as to the USA, Canada and Japan. In Bodegas, Fernando Castro was able to combine traditional methods with the latest technology, which guarantees the excellent quality of the wines produced. Currently, the company owns 240 hectares of vineyards, which are grown varieties such as Tempranillo, Airen, Syrah, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
