Wine Cortonesi, “Leonus”, Toscana IGT, 2022

Description

“Leonus” – a novelty from Cortonesi, a young red dry wine, distinguished by freshness and liveliness. Sangiovese grapes harvested from young vines of the company’s vineyards are used for its production. The grapes are grown in areas with southern and eastern exposure. The soils of the vineyards are rocky. After harvesting, which is carried out at the time of optimal ripeness of the berries, the grapes undergo traditional vinification at a controlled temperature in steel vats for 7-8 days. The wine is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels with a volume of 30 hl for about 6 months, after which it is bottled and “rests” in the cellars of the winery for at least 3 months. 10-15 thousand bottles of Leonus wine are produced annually. At its peak, the 2020 vintage will be between 2022-2025.
