Antinori family is engaged in winemaking in 1385 and is one of the oldest wine honorable Association of Families. Today the House is managed by the Antinori 26th generation of the family. At the head of the Marquis Piero Antinori family, is now the most respected and recognized in the wine world, the representative of Italy, earning it the title of the best Italian winemaker and fearlessly combines age-old traditions and new ideas. One of his most famous experiments – adding a small amount of French Cabernet Sauvignon berries to the traditional Sangiovese. Today Marquis Antinori owns and manages 1,100 hectares of vineyards, located not only in Italy but also in Hungary, California and Chile. In 2002, Piero Antinori’s name was inscribed in the Hall of Fame Wine Spectator magazine for the greatest contribution to the promotion of Italian wines in the world.
Name Sovana DOC although relatively new, but very successful. In the area of Sovana produced mainly red and rose wines. There are 4 main varieties are grown – Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Aleatico. Vineyards Aldobrandesca, belonging to the family Antinori, located near the village of Sovana, in the south of Tuscany. Wine “Aleatico” began producing in 1997. It rather quickly became famous thanks to its individuality, charm, richness of flavors. The grapes for this wine are going very mellow. Aging takes place for at least 2 years in oak barrels.
