It is interesting for history that he explained his forced journey in verse, being not only a lawbreaker, but also a poet. So he made his misfortune art. By the way, John Boyle O’Reilly was not only a master of rhyming lines, but also, as it turned out, a good cunning. He managed to deceive the prison guards and flee to America.

Wines of the brand 19 Crimes are produced in the Australian province of Victoria. Inspiration and philosophy for them was the story of the colonization of Australia, which began with a reference to the new lands of people convicted in Britain. The name of the winery “19 Crimes” conducts a direct analogy with the 19 crimes that were punishable hard labor on the Green Continent. Among them – political riots, forgery of copper coins, theft of fish from the pond, and wood – from the forest, as well as robbery in the amount of one shilling.

Together with ordinary criminals, political opponents also referred to hard labor. In exile, they kept diaries, wrote poems and sometimes dared to escape. In their honor, the 19 Crimes wine list was created. These people are united by one thing: they did not lose heart in exile, continuing to develop and create. They are depicted on the labels of 19 Crimes wines, suggesting to raise a toast for their indestructibility.

The founder of the company Treasury Wine Estates can be considered Dr. Henry Lindeman – surgeon of the Royal Navy, who emigrated from England to Sydney. Having bought the land in the Valley of Hunter, he planted his first vineyard in 1842. After a while the company “Lindemans” was founded, which later became part of the Treasury Wine Estates.

Almost 170 years later, such iconic brands as Penfolds, Wolf Blass, Rosemount, Saltram, Coldstream Hills, T’Gallan and Matua merged under the wing of the unique company Treasury Vine Estates. Now it is Australia’s largest wine producer, a global wine company, which since its inception in the 1840s has expanded to an international level. Its production activities are concentrated not only in New Zealand and Australia, but in Italy and the United States.
