Description
Port “Tres Arcos” is made from red grapes such as Turiga Franca, Turiga Nacional, Tinto Cao, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Baroque. The average aging period of Tres Arcos port is 3 years.
Port wine (or Porto fortified wine) appeared at the end of the 16th century. It was then that England banned the import of French wines. Enterprising wine merchants found a way out of this situation – wines began to be imported from Portugal, adding brandy, which made it resistant to long-term transportation. This is how the fortified wine was born, which is still very popular all over the world today. The shale slopes of the Portuguese Douro River valley are considered the birthplace of Porto. The production of this wine is a complex and laborious process – from the grape harvest, which usually takes place at the end of September, to the filling of wine cellars in the spring. Already there, thanks to aging, the port acquires all the best qualities. The entire production process takes at least 2.5 years.
